May 23 - 27, 2013 ~ Honoring the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall ~ Mount Vernon, Fair Oaks
The traveling Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall arrived via motor escort to Mt Vernon Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. The Vietnam Memorial Wall was constructed by volunteers from Home Depot, Beale AFB and the community and it was open for viewing Thursday, May 23rd to Monday, May 27th.
The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Washington, D.C. The faux-granite replica stands 240 feet long and eight feet high and it's panels bear the names of 58,227 U.S. Military personnel who lost their life in the war from 1959 to 1975.
This traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington. http://www.dmvietnamwall.com/sacramento
