The replica of the Vietnam Wall Memorial with panels bearing the names of 58,227 U.S. military personnel who lost their life in the war from 1959 to 1975.  The traveling Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall will arrive via motor escort to Mt Vernon Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.  The Memorial Wall will be constructed on Wednesday and will be ready for viewing on Thursday May 23rd to Monday, May 27th.   On Tuesday, May 28th, the Vietnam traveling Memorial Wall will leave for Ft Benning, Georgia (final destination).
The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall is a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The faux-granite replica stands 240 feet long and eight feet high. This traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War.  It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.
